Why recyclate matters now
In 1950, around 2 million tonnes of plastic were produced worldwide each year; by 2022 the figure was around 475 million tonnes. In Europe, only about 15 percent of plastics production comes from recyclate. At the same time, requirements from ESG targets and regulation are rising, especially in packaging, automotive and industry.
What MERAS is
MERAS r-PET from Sipchem InnoVent is a family of ready-to-use high-performance compounds for injection moulding and extrusion. It is based on recycled post-consumer PET, with a recycled content of between 53 and 96 percent depending on the grade. MERAS replaces virgin engineering materials such as ABS, PC, PBT, PET and PA, including where recyclate has rarely been used so far.
Less CO₂, full traceability
An independently certified product carbon footprint confirms: compared with comparable virgin material, the CO₂ footprint drops by up to 80 percent. This helps companies reduce their Scope 3 emissions. The material is easy to process and fully traceable.
Where MERAS is used
Household appliances and electronics: housings, connectors, automation components, parts for washing machines and coffee machines
Automotive: electrical covers, brackets, exterior trim, wiper arms
Cosmetics and personal care: caps and lids for cosmetics packaging, oral and hair care
Cookware and consumer goods: kitchen utensils and food-contact parts, microwave- and dishwasher-safe depending on the grade
The grades at a glance
RX 2500 S NC01: unreinforced, for food contact, 93 % recyclate
RX 2500 FG15 NC01: 15 % glass fibre, for food contact, 78 % recyclate
HRX 2500 SG30 BK01: 30 % glass fibre, tensile modulus 10,000 MPa, 59 % recyclate
FRX 2500 SG22 BK01: 22 % glass fibre, flame-retardant to V-0, halogen-free, 53 % recyclate
